Viagra and Levitra

Top differences between Viagra and Levitra

Viagra and Levitra are both used for erectile dysfunction. Men can buy Levitra online as well as Viagra from reputed and renowned mail-order pharmacies without any hassle to fix their impotence issue. The way they work is that they are all PDE-5 inhibitors. They block out phosphodiesterase type 5 – the enzyme that is there and so they boost the nitric oxide which is naturally occurring. As a result, the muscles of the penis relax and so blood is allowed to flow freely to the penis and when the person is aroused, it results in an erection. This also helps in the maintaining of the erection for a long period so that the person is able to have sex. Though, Viagra is also used for pulmonary arterial hypertension as well. Here are some differences between them:

Viagra is blue and rounded diamonds. These are in strengths of 25mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg. Levitra, on the other hand, is orange colored and is available in 2.5, 5, 10 and 20 mg doses. Both these medications need to be taken half an hour to an hour before sexual activity can be commenced.

Levitra works faster and it is given to men who do not get any benefit from using Viagra whereas Viagra has a good track record and is in the market around 7 years longer than Levitra has.

The instructions for consumption of Levitra is that it can be taken with or without food and most people are prescribed just 10mg a day and that too about 60 minutes before sexual activity can commence. Viagra on the other hand also can be taken with or without food but the users are advised to avoid grapefruit in any form as it may alter the working of this drug. Also, they are advised not to consume greasy or fatty foods as that could lead to impairment in the absorption of the drug.

Levitra can only be helpful for erectile dysfunction but Viagra is also used to treat pulmonary heart disease in addition to erectile dysfunction.

The side effects caused by Levitra are reddening of the face, headaches, diarrhea, stomach upsets, nausea, and flu-like symptoms. It also may cause chest pain, blurred vision, low blood pressure and changes in the color vision or even painful erections and abnormal ejaculation. While the side effects of Viagra may be headaches, facial flushing, nasal congestions, stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea and inability to differentiate blue and green color.

One thing is common, though, whether the person is taking Viagra or Levitra, it should never be combined with nitrates as it could lead to disastrous effects. The same is with alpha blockers. If these are used with alpha-blockers it could cause huge fluctuations in the blood pressure of the person which could have extremely dangerous results. Alcohol too should not be mixed when taking these drugs as the patients could suffer from dizziness and headaches.

Therefore, one needs to take the drug that is prescribed by the doctor, in the dosage which is prescribed and maintain the precautions that need to be maintained.
